2 June 2008

Here we are starting the month of June and I have run out of steam for political discussion. The Sunday political commentators said nothing new and McClellan’s interview on “Meet the Press” was pretty much a repeat of his interview on the “Today” show. The Democratic candidate’s political advisors continue to stump for their candidate and Clinton may hang in there until the convention reminding everyone of her lead in the “popular” vote. Great! I guess that means that we’ll continue to get more of the same for a long time. Even the war seems to be taking a back seat to the political wrangling. Not too long ago, I said “enough” to writing about political issues but didn’t follow thru. I may be forced to keep my promise to myself unless something spectacular happens. I guess I’ll just sit back and let Obama and Clinton duke it out without any comments from me. It can’t last too much longer. I will be keeping an eye on what Bush plans to do in his waning time in power. I think that he has tricks up his sleeve to try to not allow changes to be made to some of his rulings.

For social commentary, the biggest issue is, of course, the high price of gasoline. We seem to be able to do nothing about it but watch the gas stations change their signs. Those who can, seem to be trying to find alternatives to driving daily. It’s a real comedown for some people who are used to driving solo and may have to car pool or find public transportation if possible. One really good thing that I’ve been noticing is the number of people who are becoming “green” especially among the young. It is the next generation who will have to deal with all the mistakes that we oldies have made.
