Bush really skewed information on the six states that may have used SCHIP funds for adults. He claims to want health care for uninsured and poor children but had no compunction when he vetoed the bill. This is a guy who speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He’s using the excuse that it’s a step to federalize health care. Bull!!! In my opinion, this is the time for Congress to do the right thing and override the veto.
Some categories of low-income parents may need the SCHIP coverage especially pregnant women. Bush failed to mention that the states that gave coverage to adults, did so because of waivers from the federal government by his own administration using unspent SCHIP funds. Is this the way that Bush “puts poor children first” by vetoing the bill? The president is trying to cause conflict over something that was being resolved. Congress, override that veto!!!
