Now that Bush’s two talking heads, Petraeus and Crocker, have followed the party line and told the American Public what Bush wants us to hear, I say what now? Someone said that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I want to know just what tunnel he is looking down. Bush says that leaving Iraq now would dishonor the fallen military members. I say that the 4000 plus brave men and women who have died fighting an illegal and unjust war will always be honored by the people of America. To me it will be a bigger dishonor to send more military to die in a war that seems to have no end in sight.

This week 18 soldiers were killed, the deadliest week this year. Escalated killing is taking place as we are being told that there will be a pause in the withdrawal of troops after the “surge” numbers go home. Bush told Gen. David Petraeus, that “he’ll have all the time he needs.” This will leave about 100,000 troops in Iraq. Petraeus is being careful and self-protective. We have also been told that military might will not win this war without political progress. We still will have military might but no political progress. What now? Petraeus said “Withdrawing too many forces too quickly could jeopardize the progress of the past year”. That progress is already on the decline. What now? War is too important to be left to the generals in the field but this president has no inclination to put an end to this disaster, it’s called “pass the buck”. Let’s hope that the next president has enough courage to just say “no.”

If I believed in voodoo dolls, there sure are a lot of people in the Bush administration that I’d stick pins into.
