After years of hearing Bush’s mantra of “stay the course” and “accept nothing but victory”, just what does that mean to him and is it even possible. Certainly his huge ego is going to take a beating because our military will not be able to “win” this war. Our troops are strained beyond reason and in spite of their brave efforts, the Sunni/Shia conflict will not end any time soon. IT’S A CIVIL WAR STUPID!” A strong Iraqi government is needed to solve that problem.
Afghanistan is the area that needs more attention because that is the stronghold of al-Qaeda. Because of our involvement in Iraq, jihadists around the world have been able to recruit large numbers of young men to their cause. Will Bush’s hard headed political attitude lead us to a military conflict with Iran before his term of office ends? Tonight President Bush will address the nation with the decision he has made in regard to the Iraq war. The Petraeus/Crocker report will support his decision, a report which, in my opinion, doesn’t show that much success, considering the large numbers of millitary that died during the “surge” and the problems that continue outside of Baghdad.
