The Democrats continue to push their funding bill tied to troop withdrawal and Bush continues his “I will veto†stance. As conditions in Baghdad grow worse daily, I agree with Senator Reid that the war is lost and, in my opinion, has been for some time. Now they plan to pour more troops into Baghdad. When that happens, the insurgents will set off more and more suicide attacks leading to more deaths of civilians and our troops. To my mind this situation is rapidly going downhill for the US. As we hear the death reports, Bush, his head in the clouds, insists that progress is being made in Iraq. He does not state what that progress is.
The US plan to put a wall between Sunnis and Shiites in Baghdad was shot down by Iraq Prime Minister Malaki and he wants the construction to stop but the US military did not say whether the construction would be halted. Now we seem to be at odds with the Iraqi government. I can’t wait to see what happens next…Joan Lough
