Love: An intense feeling of deep affection.
Passion: A strong and barely controllable emotion.
What a pity that there is only one day a year that focuses on love, something that is really needed. Studies show that people who have passion in their lives, live longer. This passion can take many forms; for people, for causes, for hobbies. Just having passion in ones life gives one a drive to move forward, hence longer lives. Think about it, a driving reason to live, passion.

Today has a special meaning for me, the birthday of my husband and my son Dennis, no longer with us. In my belief system there is no heaven or hell so I see my loved ones as a part of the “power of the universe”. I feel them with me all the time. I guess that I can say that the idea of the “power of the universe” is a passion of mine. Volunteering and caregiving are also passions of mine. I sure hope that these passions will help me live longer. Take time, look around and you will find many people with a passion. Since the Iraq war began, writing in my “shuckbush” blog has become a passion. I am rapidly approaching the time when, “shuckbush” will fall prey to attrition and will no longer be a focus for me so I am now trying to find a good name for my followup blog page. Writing about my feelings has become a passion. Wow, all of a sudden I find a lot of passion in my life. Do we grow more passionate as we age?

I just finished reading “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. Now there is a man with a “passion”. I was overwhelmed by what he went thru to fight terrorism and build schools in the far regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Here is a man whose “passion” made wonderful changes in the lives of children, bringing education to them and to we who read his remarkable story. I learned so much about that part of the world and the people who live there. Today might be a good day to think about love and passion in your own life.
