As a Peace activist, I guess you must know how I feel about guns. If hunting is your thing, then have a hunting rifle. I just can’t understand the need for automatic weapons. I know that the NRA fights for the fredom to own guns. Look what that freedom has wraught, the largest school shooting disaster in the countries history. I’m tired of the old wheeze “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”. What a cop out. Guns in the hands of the wrong people cause terrible events that might not have happened if guns weren’t so readly available. The guns that were used today allowed the shooter to shoot up to 19 shots with one clip. How does the NRA justify the use of automatic weapons? What decent hunter uses automatic weapons? I’m all for legislation to restrict the kind of weapons allowed. That kind of law doesn’t take away the right to own a gun just possibly get rid of the automatic ones. If someone chooses to go on a killing spree, at least the number of victims could be greatly reduced, since people do kill people. Statistics show that people who own hand guns for personal protection often get shot during a confrontation or shoot an innocent person.

My thoughts for today…Joan Lough
