Impeach, “call into question the integrity or validity of (a practice)” These definations have been swirling in my mind for some time now. George Bush took the following oath of office, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The last part of that oath is a laugh right there.

Dick Cheney took the following oath, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.” I have a little trouble with the words “without purpose of evasion”.

I’ve been mulling over these oaths and here is what I have decided. Both Bush and Cheney have overreached their power. They believe that they are superior to the rules of law and are misusing their authority. They are both disregarding the constitution and should be held to account. At this time they have unchecked power and the Judiciary Committee should sanction them and start impeachment. Congress is ineffectual. Where are those who truly understand our Constitutiion and the checks and balances that the Founding Fathers built into it, for times like these. It’s past time for Americans to take back their government. Bush is not a king but serves the American people.
