As I try to avoid commenting on the Republican Convention per se I’m honing in on events that catch my interest. First of all, it was rewarding to see that FEMA learned a lesson from Katrina and also that the mayor of New Orleans had a massive exodus from the city. The full extent of Gustav still isn’t known as the brunt of the hurricane hit slightly west of New Orleans. People, food and equipment are at the ready, a far cry from what happened during Katrina.

A bit of information from the republicans was that the 17 year old, unmarried daughter of Gov. Palin is pregnant. Sounds like Gov. Palin needs to be at home looking after her large brood of kids. Some information from McCain, that I found laughable, was that he considered Palin’s experience as President of the PTA part of her “executive experience.” I served as president of a PTA when my children were young and did not consider it “executive experience”, it was a snap.

I’ll be true to myself and refrain from making convention comments
