After a brief respite I’m back to politics. I guess that I called it along with a lot of political gurus. It may indeed be spring before two leading candidates emerge for the General Election. In the meanwhile we will be entertained by debates between Obama and Clinton who seem to be running neck in neck. The Republican race is a bit more complicated. As each state votes, the winner of that state takes all the delegates and everyone is watching who takes what state. Of course winners of smaller states get fewer delegates. I’ll let the pundits do the math and just follow the results. This is indeed an exciting election.

The Republican candidates don’t seem to be on the same page on big issues while the Democrats seem pretty much together on most issues. A big issue to me would be for the next president to raise taxes for the rich and cut spending. I really want to know what the different candidates will do about Bush’s 2009 budget and it’s outrageous military funding and cuts in Medicare. Another concern for me is security here at home. In my opinion, the U.S. is not organized enough to protect it’s citizens should terrorist cells, which are forming here, begin attacking. Some of the military funding in the 2009 budget could well be delegated for Homeland Security.
