Is summer finally here? I was amazed to learn the different dates around the world that designate that summer has arrived. To me it’s rather confusing as is governed by what country that you live in and whether or not you are on daylight savings time. I do know that Southern Hemisphere seasons are opposite than those north of the Equator. I really haven’t looked into the history of how the Solstce is celebrated around the world. I may do that one day. I guess that I’ll accept the fact that it’s either the 20th or the 21st. In France they celebrate on the 21st with music festivals, Aix-en-Provence has an exceptional one. Here in Seattle in the Fremont neighborhood, they have an outrageous Solstice parade annually. The highlight for some people is a bike contingent of maybe 30-40 people in the buff with gaily painted bodies.

I look forward to enjoying as much summer as we get here in Seattle and am thankful that I don’t live in a city that swelters in the summer. I’ll take Seattle’s rain over hot weather. Happy summer Solstice!!!
