Fighting between Iraqi soldiers and Shiite militia members has lessened several days after a peace agreement had been announced. That didn’t stop militia from attacking minibuses in Baghdad’s Nineveh province. There were attacks across Iraq in the past 24 hours, killing 11 police recruits and six civilians. More violence was noted in an attack on an Awakening Council official killing a 7 year old. Awakening Councils are the U.S.-backed Sunni groups that oppose al Qaeda in Iraq.

Three civilians were killed, and nine were wounded by a mortar round on an outdoor market. What terrible anger this war has caused, aimed at innocent Iraqis. Iraqi forces backed by U.S. soldiers have been fighting against al Qaeda in Iraq in Mosul and Nineveh province. Mines are being cleared and soon they will be confiscating weapons. It is hoped that stability will be restored to the area. The Iraqi people deserve to move about Baghdad without danger to their lives .
