The last thing that America needs is a draft so how are we continuing to recruit for this unpopular war? For one thing The military has been granting waivers to recruits who haven’t graduated from high school. Then there are the large numbers of felons who are joining the military. Is the military losing it’s honor? To have troops sprinkled felons who were convicted of crimes such as theft, major drug offenses and those who have committed sex crimes, manslaughter and aggravated assault, arming them and sending them to Iraq is a frightening thought.
With the high rate of rape and sexual harassment already suffered by female troops I can’t see how the military is adding felons convicted of sex crimes. If these deviates don’t prey on military females then the Iraqi women can be targets. Add the felons to the type of men many security contractors are using and we have a situation that is ruining the honor of the above-reproach men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving their country. It seems that this war isn’t seen as worth fighting by most and so we have the lack of quality recruits. We fight on with an exhausted army augmented with the criminal and the undereducated. It’s time to start bringing the troops home.
