Whoopee US lawmakers tour Iraq! Carefull orchestrated meetings with exactly who the Bush administration wants them to see. But the story doesn’t end there, Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq at an air base away from Baghdad. Once again orchestrated photos for the press. It seems that the surge is working only where there is a large presence of troops. Other areas are having worse violence and the month of August had the largest death toll of Iraqis since the beginning of the war. Is this Bush’s idea of success of the surge? It broke my heart to learn that 6 Stryker Brigade soldiers from Ft. Lewis were killed last week. To me, that doesn’t sound like success. I, for one will not believe the sugar coated report that we will be getting soon from Gen. Petraeus. That report will not cover the bigger picture in Iraq. The lack of utilities, the fear, the people fleeing Iraq, that to me is a more realistic picture of Iraq.
