Last night the young senator from Illinois did himself proud. He laid out his plans for change if he is selected to be president. I was truly inspired by the changes that he hopes to see for our country. He seems to have a firm grasp of the problems that he will face as president. He also demanded personal responsibility from us all to work toward change. Today is the anniversary of the Martin Luther King “I Have a Dream” speech. Let’s hope that the election of an African American is the realization of King’s dream.
I now look forward to the debates between Obama and McCain. The contrast between them may make people think about what these men will do for our country to restore our standing in the world. We need a leader willing to engage Iran, Russia and other rogue nations rather than threaten. We also need a leader who is willing to have bipartisan debates on domestic and international problems. I feel comfortable that Obama is that leader.
