John McCain was missing on the week-end political talk shows and the focus was on Obama. After all the ragging from McCain about Obama’s not visiting the war sites, when he did go he sure got a lot of attention from the media. Obama feels that we should move troops to Afghanistan now and not wait for the White House changeover in Jan. Sounds pretty smart to me, as things are getting out of hand in Afghanistan with death tolls higher than those in Iraq. He said that the attention on Iraq is allowing Taliban to grow and their threat is worse than that of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

One main difference between McCain and Obama is their stance on the war. McCain sees Iraq as the center of the war against terrorism while Obama says that the Iraq war is distracting us from our original thrust against terrorism in Afghanistan. McCain also follows Bush economic ideas which makes a lot of us see him as an extension of the Bush White House. Who needs that? I think that we’ll see campaign issues between the two of them get down and dirty. Let the fireworks begin!
