McCain and his cohorts are at it again bashing Obama. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman said that Obama’s reaction to the Russians war with Georgia emphasizes his lack of experience to be president. I think that Lieberman crossed the line. The McCain campaign is seizing on the events overseas to make him appear presidential and in command on the world stage. while at the same time not appearing to be political. Yesterday he emphasized that he had visited Georgia many times and was familiar with the situation there. McCain is sending Lieberman, of Connecticut, and Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, to Georgia. McCain, Lieberman and Graham are all members of the Senate Armed Services committee. In my opinion these guys are Hawks and who needs another Hawk president?
The situation in Georgia is a touchy one and diplomacy is very important at this point in time. Lieberman, on the campaign trail with McCain says McCain’s response to the Russian aggression was “strong and clear†proving that he was ready to be commander in chief from day one. Sure, let’s antagonize the Russians who are already flexing their muscles. Engaging other European countries to join us in censuring Russia is better that verbally attacking them on our own, but attacking seems to be the way the Republican’s operate.
Once again the Republican’s are running a negative campaign. Who needs it, McCain I guess. Lieberman said that McCain was putting his country first but suggested that Obama was not. At McCain’s press conference yesterday he pooh-poohed the suggestion his comments in support of Georgia had made the situation worse. I think that it was two faced of McCain to say that this was not a time for “partisanship and sniping†between campaigns. Isn’t that just what he is doing? McCain wanted to teach Russia unspecified “consequences†of its invasion of Georgia but yet not wanting to sound hot-headed. I think that McCain is a hot head. He seems to keep anger on a very short leash. McCain as president could easily lead us into another Cold War with Russia.
