I am throughly disgusted with the way McCain is dishing Obama. To question a man’s honor the way McCain has done with Obama is truly crossing a line. To me McCain does not have the qualities that I want to see in the next leader of our country. I’ve heard rumors that he has a mean streak and a temper and this kind of campaigning, in my opinion, highlights his character. On the Sunday political news shows I watched views of both Republicans and Democrats about of Obama’s trip and McCain’s latest campaign ads and the majority seemed to censure McCain for the campaign methods that he’s using. His statement, “Sen. Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a campaign.”, to me, put Obama’s honor in question.
I noticed that Obama, after visiting troops while part of a political delegation, as soon as he left the delegation and was on his own, more in a campaigning style, he did not visit troops. To me that was an honorable thing not to use the troops in a political sense at that time. Of course McCain jumped on the fact the he didn’t visit the troops in Germany and put him down for it. I am also tired of McCain saying over and over that Obama just doesn’t “understand” the strategy in Iraq. Quite the contrary, I believe that Obama understands a lot more than McCain will ever give him credit for. McCain move on please.
When Bush became president one of his main goals was to restore “honor and dignity to the White House” but that hasn’t happened. The next president will inherit a terrible mess to try to restore, two wars, a housing recession, the fear of bank failures and of course the oil problem. To my mind the next president needs to bring great changes to Washington and somehow McCain just doesn’t seem the be the person to do that. The next administration will face the biggest challenges since the Depression era. The focus is going to have to be on the economy which may well overwhelm other issues.
There was a budget surplus when Bush took office and he will leave the next administration with a deficit of $482 billion to the national debt. We’re going to be operating in the red for years to come. I sure hope that the next president will have the ability to change the direction that we are heading at this point in time.
