I’m getting more and more disillusioned by democratic performance. In Congress Bush seems to have them on the ropes on the budget bill. Bush is asking for $200 billion to pay for the Iraq war, and promises to veto domestic spending bills that are more than he wanted. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has turned out to be a great disappointment to me. A little known stance that she has taken is to support hispanics against the Salvation Army who wants hispanics who work for them to speak only English on the job. The Army is now being sued. Hey, this is America, you live here, you learn to speak English. When I lived in Japan for 3 years I learned to speak Japanese and the same when I lived in Hungary for 3 years I limped along in passable Hungarian. If you enjoy the benefits of living in the U.S., for heavens sake learn the language.
To my mind, none of the Democratic presidential hopefuls seem to really offer anything exciting enough to make me want to vote for them. The bickering among them is enough to turn me off right there. I’m not sure what I really want to see from someone to earn my vote but they seem to be a wishy-washy group.
