Once again the Bush administration has taken away my pride in being an American. Last week 111 countries signed a treaty to stop using cluster bombs. Not only did the U.S. decline to sign the treaty but boycotted the talks. We were joined by China, India, Israel, Russian and Pakistan. A scary bunch to say the least.

Cluster bombs remain behind after a conflict and kill civilians and cause terrible causalities. These cluster bombs are also known as land mines. It’s heartbreaking to see pictures of children who have lost limbs, sight and other casualties after picking them up, in fields where they play, not knowing what they were. It’s estimated that Israel alone left behind about 1 million undetonated bomblets. Think of it, just one countrie’s damage. To me that’s unconscionable. I think that it’s immoral to manufacture and use those bombs. My beloved America is in that category.
