The CIA released information that it destroyed tapes of interrogations of terror suspects taken in 2002. The tapes were destroyed in 2005 to avoid compromising identities of questioners. Congressional leaders knew about the tapes and that they were to be destroyed. The CIA claims that the interrogation practices were legal. Shouldn’t an independent group have decided the legality of the interrogations?

President Bush authorized the use of harsh questioning methods which included waterboarding. As far as I’m concerned, waterboarding is torture. Is this another coverup at the highest levels?
