President Bush, on a mission to “gauge how much diplomatic support and practical help the desert sheikdoms might give if the United States or Israel attacked Iran”, it seems that he is really rattling his saber against Iran as a threat to the Middle East. While U.S. military commanders don’t seem eager to attack Iran, it is said the military option is still on the table. Most of the Arab states don’t see Iran as the threat that Bush makes it out to be to the area. As a matter of fact, in a poll taken in the region, 80% see the U.S. and Israel the greatest threats. If Bush’s spiel is falling on deaf ears in the Middle East, are American’s the real target of his drum banging? This is a president who claims to want peace in the Middle East. Once again our credibility is being damaged. He is also hoping to leave a legacy of peace in the Middle East. In my opinion, this is not the way to do it.
