Carl Rove and J. Scott Jennings, the deputy director of the White House political affairs offices, had been subpoenaed by the panel to testify on what they knew about the prosecutor purge. Jennings showed up, Rove did not. Jennings didn’t have much to say as he asserted executive privilege more than 20 times, refusing to answer any questions on his role in the firings of the firing of nine U.S. attorneys last year. This is a pattern for the Bush administration and makes me really concerned about what they are hiding.

The Constitution has checks and balances to control unrestrained power, which is being overridden by the many claims of “executive privilege”. This seems to be a holding power by the administration until the ’08 election. The Bush administration is making a mockery of the Constitution.
