John D. Bates of Federal District Court has dismissed a lawsuit by spy Valerie Plame and her husband against Vice President Dick Cheney and other top Bush administration officials. Bates, a Bush appointee, agreed with defense arguments that federal law protects Cheney and the other top administration officials from being sued for actions taken as part of their official duties. Way to go George and Dick, you really know how to keep things under cover. You guys are like a political mafia in action.
Judge Bates said that while the lawsuit raised “important questions relating to the propriety of actions taken by our highest government officials†there was no legal or constitutional way for them to obtain damages. Event after event have questions regarding the propriety of our highest government officials, starting with the way we got into this war in the first place. In the face of continuing shaky actions of the Bush administration and signs that the “surge” just isn’t working, how can Congress walk like zombies, following Bush and allowing our brave troops to march into the jaws of Hell?
