The Sunday talk shows all spent some time talking about John Edwards. Is it so unusual for men and sometimes women in power or the limelight use that power for business, political or personal gain? This been going on forever. The difference now is that the press is bringing things to light that in past years was kept under the radar. Were Roosevelt, Eisenhower or Kennedy pressured to come forth and admit their peccadilloes for all the world to see? Since Clinton’s lapse, the media has become more and more involved in outing things that I feel should be between husband and wife and not aired to the public. I sure don’t care what is going on in the bedrooms of the high and mighty. We seem to have become a country of voyeurs.
There are so many bigger issues to mull over that it seems petty to spend any time at all on the details of someone’s fall from grace. It didn’t involve the our country’s security or economic well being and those are the real problems facing us. Haven’t we all done something very stupid and kicked ourselves for the lapse in judgement? I know I have, so I don’t feel that I am in any position to judge John Edwards.
