The debates give a very small snapshot of how well a candidate can deliver an instant response. They are a poor way to measure what kind of president a candidate will make. The candidates are forced to make instant decisions to please the audience. I’m starting to view the candidates as stand-up comics. I also feel that they are telling America what it wants to hear and not fully reflecting their own views, but I guess that’s what politicians do. We don’t want presidents to make big decisions without taking time to ponder the issues, gather a staff and look at all the pros and cons. Debates don’t let me view that side of their ability.

I’m hard pressed to be overwhelmed by any of them. I really hate to have to vote for the person who is the lesser of the evils. I can only hope in the coming year to see more that will enable me to say “now this is the person that I really want to lead my country”.
