If you have the intestinal fortitude, read this article in the Middle East section of nytimes.com. It’s titled “A Salute for His Wounded, a Last Touch for His Dead”. It, more than anything that I have read recently, gives an accurate picture of what our brave troops live with daily. The ranking officers, suffer along with the troops at every combat death and injury. Imagine the feelings of an officer who has lost 39 men from his combat brigade in five months. This action is taking place in Diyala Province, once described by the American military as comparatively stable. One can almost feel the frustration and fear that is felt by the troops in the field. Many of these young men and women have been sent back into action two and three times for year long deployments.

I surely hope that our troops realize that the anti-war activists support them fully because they have been ordered there by the President, but that we do not support this endless war. Mr. President, bring our troops home.
