A new Army report on Iraq is calling it a tactical failure and the occupation of Iraq unjustified. Didn’t we all realize that a long time ago? The presidential candidates should read it closely and make some wise judgments about how to get our troops home as soon as possible. American military deaths are starting to rise again and it’s becoming even worse in Afghanistan. Being diverted by the Iraq war, the Taliban have taken advantage of the situation to build up their forces in eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border.

We invaded Iraq without any plan to deal with the chaos that developed in Baghdad and our troops were not trained for urban warfare and the looting that took place. From films of that time that I have seen, our military seemed to ignore large numbers of looters running off with anything that they could carry. We and the Iraqi people continue to pay dearly for the Bush administrations rush to war. The Bush administration used fear tactics to justify starting an unjust war and they continue to use those tactics now using Iran as a target. After what we have done, does the US have any future in the Middle East?
